Iron oxide pigment: iron oxide pigment mainly refers to four kinds of color pigments, namely iron oxide red, iron yellow, iron black and iron brown, with iron oxide oxide as the basic material. Among them, iron oxide red is the main color. Micaceous iron oxide used as antirust pigment and magnetic iron oxide used as magnetic recording material also belong to the category of iron oxide pigment. Iron oxide is not only the inorganic pigment next to titanium white, but also the color inorganic pigment.
Materials such as paint, plastic for construction, rubber products, etc. shall be used outdoors to withstand the test of climate, such as the comprehensive damage caused by light, cold and heat, wind and rain, bacteria, etc., and its tolerance is called weather resistance.
Weatherability refers to a series of aging phenomena such as fading, discoloration, cracking, pulverization and strength reduction of plastic products due to the influence of external conditions such as sunlight, temperature change, wind and rain. UV irradiation is the key factor to promote the aging of plastics.
Light, high temperature and humidity are the main reasons for the loss of gloss, discoloration, yellowing and pulverization of car paint coatings. The weatherability of paint coatings is related to the spectral sensitivity of paint components.
The main resin of automobile coating is mainly composed of epoxy resin, amino resin, polyester resin, etc., and contains functional groups such as carbon-oxygen double bond and carbon-carbon single bond. Different functional groups have different sensitivity to light due to different bond energies, resulting in different weather resistance.
For automotive coatings, ultraviolet radiation is the main cause of coating aging. The ultraviolet accelerated aging test can simulate the damaging effect of the ultraviolet part of the sunlight on the paint coating, and use days or weeks to reproduce the outdoor hazards for months or even years. It can help to select new materials and evaluate the effect of material formula on durability, so as to achieve the purpose of verifying paint performance.
